Es la primera vez que reconocemos a una persona que ha utilizado el Poder Judicial para combatir el terrorismo.<\/strong> Especialmente ahora, 40 a\u00f1os despu\u00e9s de que nuestro padre, Leon Klinghoffer, fuera brutalmente asesinado por terroristas palestinos a bordo del crucero Achille Lauro, elogiamos al juez Mahiques por su incansable b\u00fasqueda de la justicia y su inquebrantable compromiso de hacer rendir cuentas a los responsables del horrendo atentado contra la AMIA\u201d.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n
En su discurso, el magistrado sostuvo: \u201cEl atentado terrorista contra la AMIA fue una tragedia para Argentina y para el mundo, un punto de inflexi\u00f3n en la comprensi\u00f3n del terrorismo islamista radical y sus m\u00e9todos de violencia extrema.<\/strong> El terrorismo no es una simple cuesti\u00f3n de seguridad o jur\u00eddica; es, ante todo, un fen\u00f3meno pol\u00edtico que, como juez, analizo como un arque\u00f3logo, rastreando sus vestigios y reconstruyendo su dise\u00f1o original. En tal empe\u00f1o, no podemos permitirnos errores\u201d.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n

Establecida en 1987, esta distinci\u00f3n de la ADL rinde homenaje a personas que han realizado contribuciones sobresalientes a la lucha contra el antisemitismo y a favor de la justicia. <\/strong>Entre los anteriores galardonados se encuentran Stuart A. Levey, la Comisi\u00f3n del 11-S y el ex subsecretario de Estado para los Derechos Humanos, Richard Schifter.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n
\u201cAunque a\u00fan queda un largo camino para hacer justicia por las v\u00edctimas del atentado a la AMIA, el fallo del juez Mahiques sobre un tema que ha sido repetidamente encubierto e ignorado es un importante y valiente avance,<\/strong> y subraya la necesidad de que los tribunales responsabilicen plenamente a los terroristas y a quienes los apoyan\u201d, afirm\u00f3 la vicepresidenta senior de Asuntos Internacionales de la ADL, embajadora Marina Rosenberg, quien entreg\u00f3 el galard\u00f3n.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n
