Buenos Aires City Mayor Jorge Macri has hailed the publication of improved crime statistics in the nation\u2019s capital, crediting it to his administration\u2019s \u201cpolitical decision to enforce the law.\u201d<\/p>\n
Speaking at a press conference on Tuesday as City Hall presented its Mapa del Delito 2025 (\u201cCrime Map 2025\u201d) report, the PRO leader said porte\u00f1os were enjoying a level of security not seen for years.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cWe have never had figures like these. All crimes in the City have fallen, and in some cases to record lows. We maintain a political decision to enforce the law,\u201d Macri said at the event, highlighting that all types of crime in the federal capital declined during 2025.<\/p>\n
He said more resources had been deployed, accompanied by \u201cgreater investment in security cameras and patrol cars.\u201d<\/p>\n
The mayor claimed that \u201cthe changes began to be noticeable when the emphasis was placed on public order, with action taken to evict illegally occupied properties and to remove unlicensed street vendors.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n
He added: \u201cAll of this has an impact on organised crime such as illegal parking attendants, small-scale drug dealing and robberies or thefts.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cAll that combination of order has a very significant knock-on effect on security figures,\u201d he explained. \u201cCommitting a crime in the City does not come without consequences.\u201d<\/p>\n
The right-wing leader then sought to point the finger at neighbouring Buenos Aires Province, suggesting that criminals were travelling to the capital to commit crimes.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe City is not a free-for-all. We will not allow people to come in from the Greater Buenos Aires area to steal,\u201d he told reporters.<\/p>\n
Macri warned offenders they would face justice for their crimes, declaring: \u201cYou won\u2019t get away with it, because sooner or later you will end up under arrest.\u201d<\/p>\n
